How to Style Vintage-Inspired Clothes with What You Already Own
Some days I want to wear something a little ’70s and still get out the door in ten minutes. That’s where I’d start with New Vintage. Pick the piece you’re excited about, then pull the rest from your closet.
Houndstooth with the sweater you already wear
The Birkin pants in houndstooth have a high waist and straight leg. I’d wear them with a cream sweater and brown boots. For something warmer in color, try the Rust Swirl pants with the same sweater. If you get the matching shirt, try wearing it open over a tee with jeans, too.
Gingham with tights and tall boots
I’d take the Carolyn Gingham Mini Dress into colder weather with opaque tights and tall boots. Add a longer coat and leave it open when you can. If you like the short hem and prefer a solid color, try the Audrey Mini Dress in Bubblegum Pink with the same layers.
Leopard for dinner
The Jagger Jumpsuit in Leopard is the one I’d wear to dinner with black boots and the plainest coat I own. If you’re more of a fringe person, the black Rainbow Chaser jumpsuit is another good option. Give the sleeves some room under your coat. If you can reach across the table without the fringe bunching up, you picked the right one.
Denim with a layer underneath
I’d try the California Shake Romper in Denim with a thin long sleeve underneath and boots. Try the layers on together before heading out, especially if the romper already fits close. For a little color, add the orange Brigitte Beret.
Check the fit before you order
For a jumpsuit, compare the inseam with a pair you already wear. For a romper, check how one-pieces usually fit you through the torso, too. If you’re shopping for a particular date, read the shipping details on the product page so you can allow for any production time.
